UPDATE: Summer is getting closer! Our 46th Anniversary Season is still in the planning stages, but here is some information to help you plan for what we have in store for Sunday evenings this July:

All Concerts will take place at Brookings Quadrangle on the campus of Washington University, starting 7:30 p.m., and are, as always, free to the public! Mark your calendars now, and keep visiting the site for more information as it becomes available!

We are excited to announce that, once again, Charlie Brennan from KMOX Radio will serve as MC for our season opening concert, just two and a half weeks away! Well, our 44th Season is off to a terrific start! If you made it out to our first concert, thank you for coming! We hope you enjoyed it and are looking forward to seeing you at this coming Sunday's concert, entitled Bach, Goethe and Mendelssohn. If you missed it, there are a couple of photos from the concert in our media section. Please feel free to take a look at these, and we look forward to seeing you at Brookings Quadrangle on Sunday evening at 7:30!

If you take a look around our website, you should notice a couple of new items, including a complete repertoire list for the 2007 season and some pictures of William Schatzkamer conducting the orchestra in his last years as Music Director of the Gateway Festival Orchestra. As our orchestra is a professional ensemble, you can find a link to the Musicians Association of St. Louis (AFM Local 2-197) on our links page. Finally, don't forget that we are still working to our goal of $5,000 for our MATCH campaign. Go to our contact page for an address to which you can send a contribution. Stay tuned for even more in the coming days on our website!

We are very excited about our forthcoming season! More information is coming in the following days, but to get you started, our season will include the following:

July 8, "All-American," with Joshua Williams, trumpet soloist

July 15, "Bach, Goethe, Mendelssohn"

July 22, "Classical Vienna," with soloists David Gillham and Robert Meyer

July 29, "Multi-cultural Concert," with Dello Thedford & the Gospel Symphonic Choir

Also, we are thrilled to annouce that we are again entering into our MATCH campaign. We are extremely proud to announce that, thanks to the generous donations of our patrons and friends, we have reached our MATCH campaign goal of $5,000. Thank you to all of our patrons and friends who have enjoyed our concerts over the years and have helped us by giving what you could- it is greatly appreciated! We are constantly looking to improve the orchestra and what we can do in our community, so if you would still like to give, you are more than welcome to do so! Here comes our Forty-Third Season! By following the link on the left side of your screen, you will be able to see the coming lineup of great concerts Maestro Richards has put together for you this year. As always, our concerts will be held on the grounds of Brookings Quadrangle at Washington University EXCEPT FOR THE JULY 30 CONCERT, WHICH WILL BE HELD IN GRAHAM CHAPEL ON THE WASHINGTON UNIVERSITY CAMPUS. So, start planning those family gatherings now, and get the picnic baskets and blankets or lawn chairs ready for another great season. We'll see you starting on Sunday, July 9th at 7:30 p.m.!

Last night we concluded our Forty-Second Anniversary Season, and we had a spectacular crowd to enjoy it! Thanks again to Charlie Brennan for coming out and being our M.C. And stay tuned to this website as more photos from this season will be coming shortly.

Also, if you haven't already, we would greatly appreciate any financial support you can give. In these difficult times, orchestras across the country are having trouble staying afloat, and ours is no exception. OUR NUMBER ONE GOAL IS TO CONTINUE TO PROVIDE FREE ENTERTAINMENT OF A CLASSICAL NATURE EVERY JULY, and your contributions can help. We at the GFO urge you to read more about our organziation and then visit our contact information page to donate. While you are there, we welcome any comments you may also have (both positive and otherwise!); feel free to drop us a line or two! We are currently putting together our website, so please check back soon for new information and news. In the meantime, please feel free to peruse the pages listed to the left for information on our orchestra and its purpose, our conductor, our upcoming season and more. In the future, you will be able to view pictures of our orchestra and its members, as well as listen to excerpts of our orchestra in performance.

We are also preparing for our 40th Anniversary Season! Our new conductor, James Richards, has prepared a fabulous and eclectic season of works that span the popular orchestral repertoire, as well as newer and less-well-known pieces, all organized in four themed concerts presented this July at Washington University's Brookings Quadrangle. All concerts will be held on Sunday evenings in July, starting at 7:30 p.m. Bring a blanket or a lawn chair, and prepare for an evening of beautiful music under the stars!
